Notice of Street Renaming

At their regular meeting on Monday, January 16th, City Council passed a bylaw to:

  • rename streets in the north end of Melfort to eliminate the duplication of street names on the south side.
  • rename Saskatchewan Avenue, including Highway 3 west and Highway 6 south, to "Saskatchewan Drive" to link together and brand the highway commercial district.

Administration Department

City Manager

The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer for the City, responsible for the implementation and administration of all municipal programs and operations in accordance with the policies set by City Council. Reporting to City Council, the City Manager directs, supervises and reviews the performance of all City departments.

City Clerk

 The City Clerk is responsible for administering the City’s legislative obligations, including:

  • The preparation of Council and Committee agendas, recording the proceedings of Council and Committees and communicating the decisions of Council.
  • The custody and maintenance of all bylaws, minutes, corporate records and the corporate seal of the City of Melfort.
  • Conducting civic elections, acting as Returning Officer.

The City Clerk is also responsible for payroll and benefit administration for the City of Melfort.

Finance Department

The Finance Department protects the financial assets of the Corporation, provides advice and direction on financial matters and prepares and issues financial statements and reports.

The major areas of responsibility of this department are property taxation/assessment, utility billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, information systems, financial reporting and
general ledger maintenance.

Community Services Department

Under the guidance of the Director, the Community Services Department comprises the following areas of responsibility:  Leisure Services, Planning, Economic Development, Tourism, Building & Fire Inspections, Fire Department and Bylaw Enforcement.   The Director plans, directs, co-ordinates and evaluates all Department operations and represents the department as a member of the City of Melfort Management Team.
