Compost Site Closing

The City of Melfort Compost Site will be closing on Saturday, October 25th for the season.  The City wishes to thank everyone who utilized the site this year.

Main Arena Closure

Due to the serious deterioration of Main Arena and concerns for public health and safety, the City of Melfort will be immediately closing the facility for an indefinite period.

History of the Main Arena

The Main Arena was constructed in 1931 by Architect Martin. This facility was constructed due to the original skating and curling rink burnt down in 1929. The officially opening of the arena was on Wednesday, December 23, 1931.

Melfort has a variety of first rate parks and facilities to enhance the leisure pursuits of its citizens. The Northern Lights Palace with its large multi-purpose arena and indoor leisure wave pool, water slide, whirlpool, sauna and swimming pool, is the focal point of recreational facilities for northeastern Saskatchewan. 
 
Residentially, Melfort is a growing community that has a wide variety of housing options for potential residents, and commercially, Melfort is expanding to accommodate the needs of a growing population.
 
Melfort is host to a number of annual events such as the Melfort Exhibition which attracts thousands of people to the community each summer. The annual Polka Fest, “Back to the 50’s”, and fall trade show provide exciting options for fun and entertainment.
