We have a full size cedar dry sauna for those who want to sweat. Sweating will clean out your pores and detoxify your body. The temperatures in a sauna are of the order of 60 to 80 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat can give you an increased heart rate and metabolism which can help lose weight. 20 minutes in a dry sauna will help you burn around 300 calories. This is about the same as going for a long walk or a short run. Benefits of a sauna include the expansion of your blood vessels and raising your internal temperature high enough (43°C) to burn fat.
Additional care should be taken if a swimmer has a history of low blood pressure. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the sauna for their safety. |
